Resident Evil Requiem Gameplay
What would happen if you took the best parts of recent Resident Evil games? The first person slow-burn horror that was introduced in RE7 with the high octane action of RE4 and it’s excellent remake. You get Resident Evil Requiem.
Throughout the new campaign, you’ll send time as series newcomer Grace Ashcroft, and FBI agent investigating a series of suspicious deaths among survivors of the Racoon City incident. While you can freely switch between both 3rd and 1st person for both playable characters, Grace’s sections are tailored towards slow burn horror and puzzle solving in 1st person, while Leon Kennedy’s sections are that familiar 3rd person bad-assary we’ve come to expect from RE4.
That’s right, everyone’s favorite wise cracking protagonist is back. In Requiem, you take control of a older more grizzled Leon S Kennedy. While Grace’s sections will be full of sneaking, puzzle solving, and managing a small inventory to solve puzzles, Leon will be pure action. The action is ramped up with new cinematic executions, improved melee, and a hatchet to parry and take out enemies.
Throughout the split campaign, you will jump between these two gameplay styles and characters over the course of a roughly 10-12 hour runtime. Some reviewers are pointing out that Leon takes a bulk of the play time, so if you enjoy the more action heavy style of Resident Evil you are in good hands with Requiem.
