007 First Light Gameplay
007 First Light is a third-person action-adventure game coming from the team behind the awesome Hitman: World of Assassination trilogy.
007 First Light serves as a stand alone James Bond origin story, reimagined origin story. It is not an adaptation of any existing film, but an entirely original narrative developed for the game.
You play as a spry 26-year-old Bond, voiced and motion-captured by Patrick Gibson. Bond is a promising but hotheaded Royal Navy air crewman who finds himself recruited by British intelligence service MI6. Amidst his training he is thrown into the deep end of spycraft, before he’s anywhere close to ready. The story of how he becomes the suave agent we know from the films. Cool and unflappable,
If you have ever played any of the Hitman: World of Assassinastiong trilogy, you know that IO Interactive’s pedigree in stealth-action game design has the chops for what a Bond game has always needed. 007 First Light shows it.
The game blends stealth, aided by gadgets, hand-to-hand combat, and big action set pieces in ways that feel like translating a Bond film into a game.
Like any good Bond adventure, First Light sees you on a globe-trotting adventure, where stakes climb ever higher. Each environment is dense with options on how to approach your goals. Will you climb in through an unlocked window? Use a disguise to blend in with the staff at a party? Or will you bluff your way through a checkpoint with Bond’s signature charm. And of course if things go sideways, you can always execute on that license to kill..
007 First Light is running on an upgraded version of IO Interactive’s proprietary engine, Glacier, the same used in the newer Hitman games. This time around it comes to us with some neat new features including: new global illumination tech, software ray tracing, support for uncapped frame rates, NVIDIA DLSS 4.5, Dynamic Multi Frame Generation, and with support for AMD FSR 3 and Intel XeSS. Coming later this summer, path tracing and DLSS ray reconstruction will become available with a patch.
007 First Light PC System Requirements

IO Interactive created the above PC specification chart. There are a few things worth noting before diving in. First, an SSD is required for this game, but that’s not a problem because our PCs come with SSDs. Second, and notably: performance targets for all of the listed tier levels are based on performance at native resolution, with no DLSS or upscaling factored in. The only caveat is Ultra tier, which assumes DLSS is enabled.

If you liked the Hitman trilogy, you will feel the shared DNA. First Light is a more narrative driven action game, with those sandbox levels sprinkled in between high octane action.
