Halo Campaign Evolved Gameplay
Halo Campaign Evolved is a ground-up remake of the original Halo: Combat Evolved campaign, built on Unreal Engine 5.
Unlike the 2011 Anniversary remaster with a graphics toggle between new and enhanced graphics, this is a complete remake with new features. Updated character models, all-new cinematic, re-recorded dialogue, and a new reworked score are all powered by Unreal Engine 5, offering a deeper level of graphical fidelity than seen before in the HALO series.
The new game features all nine of the iconic original missions with enhanced level design where it makes sense. The biggest addition is a completely new story arc spanning three new missions called “Operation: METEORITE”. In these you will play as a younger Master Chief and be joined by Sgt. Johnson as you take on clandestine operations deep behind enemy lines.
Rounding out the game’s features is new enemies, a suped up weapons roster, and new gameplay-modifying Skulls if you are up for the challenge some of them can add.
Co-op has been significantly expanded. The original Combat Evolved just had local two player split screen. Halo Campaign Evolved supports up to four player online co-op and has full cross-platform play between PC, Xbox, and PlayStation, two-player split-screen on consoles, and shared progression across all platforms by linking to an Xbox account.
For PC specifically, the game ships with some nice PC specific features. You’ll get uncapped frame rates, support for a variety of up-scaling technologies including: DLSS 4, FSR, XeSS, and TSR upscaling, NVIDIA Reflex, AMD Anti-Lag, and Intel XeLL latency reduction. It is also part of the Xbox Play Anywhere program, so purchasing through the Microsoft store gets you both the Xbox and PC version of the game.
