The year 2019 is definitely a good year for geeks and gamers, bringing in a lot of new games from big developers and uprising indie companies. That’s why for this week, we’re featuring a four-part series article that lists down 20 of the most anticipated games of the year.

And for today, we’re starting with the first five games in our list, scheduled to be released for January and February.

PlanetSide Arena

Ever wonder what it feels like playing a battle-royale game in a sci-fi set up? Well, that is what PlanetSide Arena has to offer. Developed by the Daybreak Game Company, PlanetSide Arena is a massive multiplayer sci-fi arena and first-person shooting game. The game puts the player in a war-torn landscape of Auraxis, joining the fight in a 250 vs. 250 group battle massive clash or in a battle royale between teams of 3 players.

Metro: Exodus

Metro: Exodus is the anticipated sequel to the critically-acclaimed Metro 2033 and Metro: Last Light. It is a first-person shooter video game from 4A Games and Deep Silver and is the third installment in the Metro video game series. The game is set following the events of the first two games. Exodus also introduces us to the character of Artyom who leaves the Metro in Moscow to set off on a journey to find the “Aurora” and head east to start a new life.

Crackdown 3

Crackdown 3 is an action-adventure video game from Sumo Digital and Microsoft Studios. It is the third title that focuses on Microsoft Azure, allowing everything in the game to be destroyed. Crackdown 3 has the same gameplay as its predecessors, but includes a new system called “Gangs Bite Back.” The game also features a number of different organizations that control the city of New Providence that the players need to defeat by destroying their facilities and infrastructures.

Far Cry New Dawn

Far Cry New Dawn is a spin-off video game of the Far Cry series and is said to be a narrative sequel to Far Cry 5. This first-person shooter game in an open-world setting which allows the player to explore freely. The game is still set in the fictional city of Hope County, Montana, reshaped by the nuclear war. The player will control a new character, whose gender and look can be customized.

Anthem

Since its trailer has been revealed, sci-fi fans couldn’t wait for the game to be released. Anthem is an MMORPG developed by Bioware for Microsoft Windows gaming PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 gaming consoles. The player will fill the role of a Freelancer and take on tasks to explore a post-apocalyptic landscape filled with forest, dangers, and monstrous creatures. Each character wears a fully-customizable exo suit called Javelins, which features weapons and items, as well as superhuman abilities.
