The Elder Scrolls Online: Blackwood Coming this June 2021

Bethesda has announced that The Elder Scrolls Online: Blackwood this June 2021. Blackwood is a new story chapter that will serve as a prequel to the events of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. According to Bethesda, Blackwood will launch on June 1 for gaming pc and on June 8 for consoles.

The Elder Scrolls Online: Blackwood will task players to uncover the schemes of the Daedric Prince Mehrunes Dagon, who is the main antagonist of Oblivion. Blackwood will add 30 hours of story content to the game. It will serve as a prequel to Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion and is set over 800 years prior to the events of Oblivion.

The Blackwood update will also introduce Oblivion Portal World Events and quality-of-life features. It will also introduce a Companions system, which is similar to the single-player Elder Scroll games, where players are allowed to recruit, develop, and customize game NPCs to fight alongside them.

This new update is part of the year-long “Gates of Oblivion” content that serves as the roadmap for Elder Scrolls Online. The expansion will allow players to travel to famous locations that are related to the fourth Elder Scrolls game. These locations include Leyawiin and Blackwood itself, which are both caught between the Argonian homeland and the Imperial province of Cyrodiil.

The Blackwood narrative will also kick off with the Flames of Ambition DLC. This will add new dungeons that will reveal the threat of Mehrune Dagon. On the other hand, the Flames of Ambition is set to be released on March 8 for PC, Mac, and Stadia. For consoles, it will be launched on Xbox and PlayStation consoles.

Aside from Blackwood, Bethesda’s stream on Twitch also teased the game’s end-of-year story DLC. This will take players to the Deadlands, which is Mehrunes Dagon’s personal realm. Elder Scrolls Online is an MMORPG that was first released in April 2014.
