Rumour has it that Capcom is currently working on a Resident Evil 3 remake that is scheduled to be released for gaming PC in 2020.
It all started when Youtuber Spawn Wave, along with Eurogamer, reported that they heard from sources that a Resident Evil 3 remake is in the works.
This is likely to be possible after the success of Resident Evil 2’s remake. In fact, Capcom even stated in their previous interviews that they are open to exploring more remakes after Resident Evil 2. Considering that the remake of RE 2 sold over three million copies across PC, PS4, and Xbox One in its first week.
Resident Evil 3 came out in 1999 for PS1. It follows the story of Jill Valentine as she tries to escape from Racoon City during the zombie outbreak. The events of the third title take place before, during, and after Resident Evil 2.
In-game, Jill is pursued the entire time by Nemesis, a biological weapon created by the Umbrella Corporation to hunt down the remaining S.T.A.R.S. Nemesis members is quite similar to Tyrant in Resident Evil 2 but is even deadlier due to being faster and stronger. Nemesis also happens to be more intelligent than Tyrant.
If Resident Evil 3 is currently on a remake, then we may get to see two Resident Evil games next year — the rumored remake and Project Resistance.
