Innersloth has finally released Among Us’ new map, The Airship, last March 31, 2021. Aside from the new map, a new update was also added to the game. It allows the player to pick which room they can start in. The update will also bring new ladders, a basic account system for moderation, and more features for players to explore.
The new map was first revealed during The Game Awards 2020. According to the developers, the Airship Map is based on the Toppat Clan Airship from the Henry Stickmin series.
The development team revealed that they have been working on the update these past months and that one of the biggest challenges in creating a new map for the public was making sure that it would work on all platforms and devices. Currently, Among Us is available to play on gaming PC, Nintendo Switch, and mobile phones. The game will also be arriving on all Xbox consoles this 2021.
The Among Us Team is actually composed of only five people. And while the game has gained an incredible amount of success, the development team wants to focus on taking care of its team members instead of hiring and growing too large. They confirmed, though, that they would like to hire out new people. However, they want to do the hiring process responsibly.
The team also wanted to launch the new map, The Airship, with the basic account system. This is because they understand that there have been issues with some of the toxic players in the community. So instead of pushing out the content right away, Innerslot decided to make sure that Among Us becomes a safe and fun place for all its players first before delivering new content.
