After the listing leak, video game developer, 343 Industries, has finally confirmed that Halo Infinite’s multiplayer will be free-to-play. Aside from that, it will support 120 FPS on a next-gen console, Xbox Series X.
The confirmation came via a Twitter post published by Halo’s official account. The tweet stated that Halo is for everyone. They confirm that Halo Infinite multiplayer will be free-to-play and will support 120 FPS on Xbox Series X. According to the same tweet, more details will be shared by the developers later on.
The leak happened when online retailer Smyths Toys listed Halo Infinite for Xbox Series, indicating its free-to-play gameplay and 120 FPS feature to greatly reduced load times.
There are so few details we know about the newest entry in the Halo series. However, during the Xbox Games Showcase, 343 Industries confirmed that Halo Infinite will be running at a locked 60 FPS. But the new update mentioned an improved FPS for Xbox Series X.
As previously reported, Halo Infinite will be more of a platform than a standalone entry like its predecessors. And it is a free-to-play multiplayer online game that may only suggest a series of future plans for the Halo series.
The news also started an open discussion with the game’s community. It received mixed reactions with fans mainly pointing their concern about Halo’s graphics and visual style, and its multiplayer beta. A free-to-play online multiplayer system may also suggest microtransactions for the game.
The game will be the sixth entry in the Halo series. It will continue the story of Master Chief following the events from Halo 5: Guardians.
Halo Infinite is scheduled to be launch alongside Xbox Series X in the Holiday of 2020, probably before or after Thanksgiving. The game will also be available on gaming PC and Xbox One.
