With EA confirming the release of Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 this 2018, fans of FPS games couldn’t contain their excitement to see its mode and gameplay. But Black Ops 4 is not the only action first-person shooting game you should look out for this year. Here are other top war-themed FPS video games set to be released this 2018.

Hell Let Loose

Hell Let Loose is a platoon-based realistic multiplayer FPS video game from indie-game company Black Matter. The game is set during the World War 2 and features a heavy battle that comprises of 100 players per game, with 50 players per team. It places heavy emphasis on teamwork and communication where players should work together as a platoon, trusting the leadership of Officers and the Force Commander. Players use historically-accurate weapons, logistics, and armor, and must combat the enemy team with strategy and tactics.

The game will feature sweeping 4km2 maps, with a battlefield divided up to into sectors, giving players unique gameplay that pits two forces of fifty players in a fight to death across bridges, fields, forests, and towns. It is set to be released on Steam in Q2 2018 for Microsoft Windows PCs and gaming laptops.

Call of Duty 2018 is one of the most awaited action FPS video game for 2018. Activision has confirmed that Black Ops 4 will be unveiled on May 17, 2018. Early rumors suggested that the game is set to be released on October 12, 2018, on Windows PC, PS4, XBox One.

Although no further details were released, there are rumors that Black Ops 4 will be adding a Battle Royale mode due to the genre’s popularity. The idea was given by Wall Street Senior Research Analyst Michael Olson after he laid out a prediction of upcoming major triple-A, third-party titles. These might include a Battle-Royale mode such as Red Dead Redemption 2, Battlefield, Anthem,  Overwatch, and of course, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. Other than that, fans of CoD need to wait for the game’s official reveal.

Battlefield 2018

Battlefield 2018 or Battlefield V is said to be released in the third quarter of 2018 as announced by EA. The game is said to be the spiritual sequel to Battlefield 1 and will be set during the mid and post-Vietnam conflict. It is also reported that it will feature game modes such as Conquest, Domination, Operations, Rush, and Team Deathmatch. It is also said to include ‘era-appropriate’ guns.

The latest update release by EA was a video that shows the developers showing off a pretty cutting-edge technology that explains how self-learning bots can add to the multiplayer experience of the game. These bots can move and shoot independently, all the while learning from the behaviors of real-world players.

Escape From Tarkov

Escape From Tarkov is a first-person shooting game from Battlestate Games. It is described by its developers as hardcore and realistic online FPS action RPG video game that features some MMO elements and a story-driven walkthrough.

The game is set in a fictional Norvinsk region in Russia, around the “special economic zone” which served as a gateway between Russia and Europe. The player takes the role of a mercenary who must survive the initial stage of the Tarkov conflict. Due to the dispute, Tarkov is sealed off by the UN and the Russian military: communication is lost, supply chains are cut, and the player must make his own choices to get out of the chaos-ridden metropolis.
