Believe it or not, Tekken 7 will be adding Negan from the Walking Dead to its roster of fighters as part of Season 2 along with veteran fighters Nina Williams and Lei Wulong.

The news came as a surprise after Katsuhiro Harada, and Michael Murray announced the new season of characters coming to the game. After Tekken 7 grand finals at Evo 2018, Harada has teased six new characters, introducing old Tekken fighters Anna and Lei in the form of a gameplay video. The video ended with Negan, who is teased in the form of character art. Three out of the six characters for season 2 remained unannounced.

According to Bandai, “Negan from AMC’s The Walking Dead will be coming to Tekken  7 to deal a world of pain. Known for his charismatic yet sinister demeanor, Negan is ready to destroy all the challengers, regardless of their stature in the Tekken universe.”

Fans didn’t expect Negan as the new character after Katsuhiro Harada remarks last year when a fan suggested it on Twitter. He said that Negan with Lucille might be a nice idea, but he is too weak as a fighter. Now, it is clear to say that his remarks may have just been a way to misdirect fans. But either way, having Negan in the Tekken universe brings a different flavor to the game.

Tekken 7 has been doing crossovers and fans has been supporting it. In Season 1 of DLC last year, crossover characters were introduced including Final Fantasy XV’s Noctis and Fatal Fury’s Geese Howard.

Aside from Negan, Anna Williams and Lei Wulong will be returning as fighters in the game. Anna Williams has always been part of the game since the beginning. She is the sister of Nina Williams and works with her as one of the personal bodyguards of Kazuya Mishima. She is a lethal fighter that uses an assassination fighting style that fuses Koppōjutsu and Aikido. Lei Wulong, on the other hand, was introduced in Tekken 2 and will be making his long-awaited return in the series. He is a police officer who works on investigating the illegal hunting and trading of protected species done by Mishima Zaibatsu. His fighting style is based on Chinese martial arts including Drunken Boxing and Five Animals Form including crane, leopard, snake, dragon, and tiger fighting styles.

Bandai Namco announced that Tekken 7’s season 2 pass will be released soon to XBox One, PlayStation 4, and Microsoft Windows PC and gaming laptops.
