It’s official — Devil May Cry 5 is happening. The series publisher and developer Capcom debuted the game during the Microsoft’s E3 2018 press conference with an action-packed trailer. The video shows us a very familiar face, Nero, Dante’s nephew who we first met in DMC 4. And from what it seems, Nero might actually be the main playable character this time.

DMC 5 is set years after the legions of Hell invaded the world, but now a new demonic threat has arrived. A “demonic tree” has taken root in Red Grave City which attracted the attention of Nero, Dante’s nephew. In Devil May Cry 4, we remember that Nero possessed the Devil Bringer, a demonically-infused arm that is described as the physical manifestation of his demonic powers. But at the start of the Devil May Cry 5 trailer, we see that Nero doesn’t have the Devil Bringer, but instead uses a robotic arm which he uses to slay demons. With his demonic arm missing, Nero together with his partner Nico must face the hellish threat while searching for his uncle, Dante.

Capcom also announced that DMC 5 will introduce three playable characters, each one offering a different play style for the gamers. The publisher revealed that they used full costumed models for all the characters, so they can be rendered as realistically as possible. Capcom even said that DMC 5 feels better than any action game they have created over the years.

Devil May Cry 5 is going to the sixth installment of the series after Ninja Theory’s DmC: Devil May Cry, and is the sequel to Devil May Cry 4 in 2008, making it the most-awaited game in the series.

Fans have been expecting the announcement of the game ever since rumors have been circulating in the web, especially after Capcom released the Devil May Cry HD Collection on March 13, 2018. It was then followed on June 4 when it was revealed that Capcom registered a domain for Devil May Cry 5, confirming that a new game was indeed on the way.  The domain Devilmaycry5.com was managed by GMO Internet, which also handled the registration of other Capcom gaming sites such as Monster Hunter: World and Resident Evil 7.

Devil May Cry 5 will be launching for PS4, XBox One, and Microsoft Windows PCs and gaming laptops in Spring 2019.
