The year 2017 was a blast for gamers! With developers releasing amazing games each month, we couldn’t help but think that 2017 is by far the best year for gaming. And to show our appreciation, we decided to list down our favorite picks among the PC games that were released this year.

Nier: Automata

Nier: Automata is a sci-fi fantasy, action RPG video game from Square Enix. It is the sequel to the 2010 video game Nier, a spinoff of the Drakengard series. The game follows the story of a combat android, her companion, and a fugitive prototype. These three try to save the remnants of humanity in a world filled with war machines created by otherworldly invaders. It was significantly praised by critics for its narrative, character development, thematic depth, music design, and its combat system.

Resident Evil 7: Biohazard

Resident Evil 7: Biohazard is the 11th main entry in the Resident Evil franchise, and the first in the series to feature a first-person perspective. The game introduces a new protagonist named Ethan Winters as he searches for his wife Mia in a derelict plantation owned by the Baker family.  There he encounters a sinister being which takes control of the whole Baker family as well as Mia, turning them into something menacing and inhuman.

Assassin’s Creed Origins

Assassin’s Creed Origins is the tenth major installment in the series which was released for Microsoft Windows PCs and gaming laptops on October 27. It acts as the series’ prequel with a storyline that revolves around the origins of the centuries-long conflict between the Brotherhood of Assassins and The Order of the Ancients.

Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice

Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice is a dark fantasy, psychological horror video game from the makers of Heavenly Sword and Devil May Cry, Ninja Theory. It tells the story of a broken Celtic warrior which embarks on a quest to Viking Hell and save the soul of her dead lover. It was applauded for its unique choice to depict and revolve around psychosis, as well as for its idea of blending its approach with Norse mythology and the grieving journey of Senua.

For Honor

For Honor is a groundbreaking hack-and-slash action video game from Ubisoft Montreal. The game allows players to take the roles of historical forms of soldiers and warriors, which includes knights, samurai, and Vikings within a medieval setting. It is an intense, medieval brawler game that features a tactical combat system called “Art of Battle.”

Divinity: Original Sin II

Divinity: Original Sin II is an RPG game from Larian Studios and is the sequel to 2014’s Divinity: Original Sin. It allows the players to take the role of either a Human, a Dwarf, a flesh-eating Elf, an Imperial Lizard, or an Undead. Players can then explore the vast and layered world of Rivellon. The captivating game is universally acclaimed with critics praising its complexity and interactivity.

Middle-Earth: Shadow of War

Middle-Earth: Shadow of War is an action RPG video game from Monolith Productions and the sequel to 2014’s Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor. The game is based on Middle-Earth: Shadow of War, where the player continues to take the role of the ranger Talion and the spirit of the elf lord Celebrimbor, who shares Talion’s body. Together they forge a new Ring of Power to amass an army to fight against Sauron.
