AMD Radeon 9070 GRE – Now Available at CyberPowerPC

9070 GRE

AMD’s latest RDNA 4 GPU has just landed in our builds. The new RX 9070 GRE brings solid 1440p for a great price. Here’s everything you need to know about the latest Radeon GPU.

RX 9070 GRE – What is it?

You might be wondering? Another 9070? This one is a little different. GRE stands for Golden Radeon Edition. It’s a branding AMD has used before to describe slightly paired back versions of their higher-tier GPUs. The RX 7900 got the GRE treatment back in 2024. It made it one of the better value GPU picks of that year. The RX 9070 GRE follows the same logic: it takes the same silicon found inside the RX 9070 and RX 9070 XT, and brings the price down a bit by trimming some aspects of the card.

Specifically, the RX 9070 GRE has 48 RDNA 4 Compute Units instead of the full 56 the regular RX 9070 has. For VRAM, it has 12GB of GDDR6 instead of the RX 9070’s 16GB. The ray tracing hardware, the AI accelerators, the DisplayPort 2.1a and HDMI 2.1b outputs, and the PCIe 5.0 x16 connectivity all carry over from the full card unchanged. Boost clock runs up to 2.79GHz. It is, in every meaningful architectural sense, an RDNA 4 GPU — just calibrated for a different performance tier than its siblings.

Built for 1440p

The RX 9070 GRE is built with 1440p gaming in mind, and it delivers strong performance. Tom’s Hardware’s review measured an 86.6 FPS average at 1440p across an 11-game raster test suite. If you are looking for fantastic 1440p gaming performance, the RX 9070 GRE delivers.
