Ubisoft’s The Division 2 Will Not Be Released on Steam

Early this January, Ubisoft confirmed that they are currently working on a partnership with Epic Games to release Tom Clancy’s PC version of The Division 2.

According to Ubisoft, The Division 2 gaming PC version will not be released on Steam, but on the newly launched Epic Games store. The video game company, however, also confirmed that the game will also be available on Ubisoft.

For those who already have pre-ordered the game, you won’t have to worry about a thing. Ubisoft made sure that any pre-orders from other online stores will not be affected by their recent decision.

Aside from The Division 2, the two companies also announced they will release additional select titles over the next year.

Ubisoft said that this decision was a way to show their full support to Epic Games. They also said that they trust Epic to deliver a smooth and user-friendly experience to their fans, from pre-ordering the game to enjoy its Beta up to its launch.

Epic Games first announced their online store last year. Although no date was released as to when the store will be available on the internet, it already gained recognition due to its 88 to 12 percent split for developers. According to Epic’s founder Tim Sweeney, they are aiming to make it the most publisher-friendly store online. The store will provide direct access to customers and give 88% of the revenues to the developers so they can invest the funds in building more games.
