We’re excited to announce that SanDisk Optimus SSDs are now available in CyberPowerPC desktop systems. CyberPowerPC and SanDisk (formerly of WD) have been partners for years, and the SSDs in a huge number of our PCS have been WD_Black NVMe drives. What’s new is the name and branding. We’re happy to continue this partnership in this next chapter with one of the most trusted names in storage as they transitioned to being an independent company.
If you’ve built your own PC or bought a CyberPowerPC desktop in the past couple years, chances are it came with a WD Black SSD. So, you already know what SanDisk Optimus is capable of.

WD_Black is Now SanDisk Optimus
In January 2026, SanDisk announced their new branding: SanDisk Optimus. This is the new name for what the gaming pc community has known as WD Black. The rebrand reflects SanDisk’s evolution as an independent company following its separation from Western Digital, and a move to bringing its best solid state storage products under a unified identity built around the same performance you have trusted for years.
CyberPowerPC is among the system builders to make SanDisk Optimus SSDs available as a configuration option in our desktops. A reflection of our continuing partnership with SanDisk and our commitment to putting the best available gaming hardware in our PCs, as soon as that tech is available.
The SanDisk Optimus Lineup
SanDisk Optimus has a trio of product categories that you will find in our storage options, covering the usual range of performance tiers you expect for gaming (entry level, enthusiast, and high end).
SanDisk Optimus – Benchmark performance for gamers and creators who want the fastest, smoothest computing. This line was previously branded as WD Blue.
SanDisk Optimus GX – Game without limits. These SSDs are built for players who demand lightening fast load times, tons of storage capacity, and great power efficiency. This tier was previously branded as WD_Black.
SanDisk Optimus GX PRO 0 – The high end option featuring the pinnacle of performance. Built for developers, professionals, and gamers who want the cutting edge in their PC. This tier was also previously branded as WD_Black, including the WD_Black SN8100 NVMe SSD.

Is SanDisk Optimus the same as WD Black?
Yes, sort of. SanDisk SanDisk became part of Western Digital when they were acquired in 2016. The two brands seperated in February 2025.
The Optimus line of products replaces what was WD Black, building on the legacy of acclaimed SSD performance, especially among gamers. The rebrand was announced at CES 2026 in January and reflects SanDisk’s move from part of Western Digital to an independent company.
I ordered a CyberPowerPC with a WD_Black SSD. Am I eligible for the Discord Nitro bundle?
The Discord Nitro bundle applies to new purchases configured with a SanDisk Optimus or WD Black SSDs, since we still have an inventory of those pre-rebrand WD Black Drives.
How do I claim my free Discord Nitro month?
