Mirror's Edge Is Set to Get a TV Show Adaptation

Days after the release of Mirror’s Edge Catalyst, there seems to be another surprise in store for its fans. On May 30, Deadline reported that Endemol Shine Studios has acquired the TV rights to the cult-classic video game. They are currently working with EA to adapt the game into an “action-packed series.”

Following the story of Faith Connors, Mirror’s Edge is set in a quasi-futuristic dystopian society ruled by a totalitarian regime. Faith is one of the “runners,” a group of couriers that transmit messages while evading government surveillance. When her sister was framed for murder, Faith joined the fight against the Conglomerate to save her.

Mirror Edge for TV Show Adoptation

“We clearly see Mirror’s Edge as a franchise for the global TV audience,” said Sharon Hall, President of Endemol Shine Studios during her interview with Deadline. “It has a strong female protagonist, a wildly rabid fan base and a worldwide brand that Electronic Arts and EA DICE have done an amazing job establishing.”

With the right actress and some serious kick-ass action scenes, Mirror’s Edge’s TV show adaptation would be a hit. Endemol said that they will stick to the game’s original story and its setting.

The original game was first released in 2008. Although it was well-received by the public, the game was criticized for its lack of story. So in 2013, EA Dice officially announced its reboot at the Electronic Entertainment Expo — Mirror’s Edge Catalyst. It’s scheduled for release this June 7th for Windows gaming PCs, Sony Playstation consoles, and Microsoft XBox 360.

The developers promise that players will be introduced to a deeper plot and a larger environment for the players to explore this time. This will give fans even greater reason to expect a stunning visual experience.
