The Most Underrated Video Game Series of All Times

Fallout, Call of Duty, and Grand Theft Auto, these are few of the big games we know. They are famous, and they are well-loved by gamers worldwide. But there are times when you’ll eventually look for hidden gems, games that are lesser known to the public, only to find out that they are just fantastic as big ones.

Here are five underrated video game series that we think deserve more love:

Drakengard

Many of us have heard of the game NieR: Automata, but only a few know of its origin. NieR: Automata is actually just a spin-off game of the Drakengard series. Drakengard is a series of RPG video games set in a North-European-style dark fantasy world. The series was known for its dark storyline and multiple endings, all thanks to its creator Yoko Toro.

Unlike other games, Drakengard has a deep storyline and offers more than just your average RPG video game. It creates an impact, and it lets you face the consequences of your choices, somehow similar to how you play Telltale Game Series. It has the action, the drama, and the soundtracks are just amazing.

TitanFall

Sometimes, there is the game with all the perfect characters to make it big but doesn’t. And that’s what exactly happened to Titanfall when its sequel was released. And the reason? Well, only because it was released together with Battlefield 1 and the new Call of Duty game. The results? Well, its sales weren’t that impressive.

But still, TitanFall is a fantastic game that everyone should definitely try especially gamers who are big fans of sci-fi robots and mechas.

Shin Megami Tensei Persona

Shin Megami Tensei Persona more known as The Persona Series has always been a huge hit in Japan for many years. However, here in the West, it was never truly appreciated. The game mixes traditional JRPG old-school and turn-based gameplay with interaction, and some humor. Each of its installment has its own standalone experience which makes it outstanding.

If you love anime, then this is the RPG game you should definitely try.

The Witcher

Let’s face the truth, The Witcher Series wasn’t that popular until the third game was released and took everyone by storm. However, the first game and its sequel were as pretty good as the third. Compared to the third, the game is more hardcore and requires players to master a much more challenging combat system.

The Witcher and its sequel Assassins of Kings were released in 2007 and 2011 for Microsoft Windows gaming PCs.

Timesplitters

Before there was Overwatch or Team Fortress, there was Free Radical Design’s Timesplitters. This video game features the perfect first person shooter animation during the year 2000. It was compared to GoldenEye 007 and Perfect Dark, with its similar aiming system and unlockable options. It has arctic bases, spy-themed mansion infiltrations, zombie survival, and time-travelling premise.

Too bad, it wasn’t really noticed since Counter-Strike gained all the attention.
