With Yae Miko’s release last week on Genshin Impact, fans are already excited to know who the next 5-star character will arrive in the game. And similar to Yae Miko’s announcement, Genshin Impact’s official social media accounts have revealed the next playable character. It is no other than Kamisato Ayato, the head of the Kamisato Clan and Yashiro Commission.
Ayato is a character the Traveler has never seen before. However, he is a popular character primarily heard in the city of Inazuma as the head of the Kamisato Clan. He is the older brother of Kamisato Ayaka, who helped the Traveler during his quests to meet the Electro Archon, Raiden Shogun.
Who is Kamisato Ayato?
According to his official introduction, Kamisato Ayato is committed to his role as the head of the Yashiro Commission. He works hard to maintain the prosperity and stability of the region.
Although he has a prominent role in society, he likes to have a low profile. Ayato is also not a fan of public appearances and does not seek to show his skills in public.
However, Ayato is not someone you can underestimate. Years ago, when the Kamisato Clan was almost on the verge of crumbling, Ayato led and stabilized the situation.
He could not have achieved his current position without cunning and resourcefulness. But perhaps, behind Ayato’s enigmatic smile, belies darker waves.
Possible Skills and Abilities
There are no confirmed details on Ayato’s skills and abilities. But previous leaks suggested that Ayato will be a strong DPS character in the game. If it turns out to be accurate, Ayato’s strong damage will focus on his Normal Attacks, similar to Arataki Itto.
In a subreddit post, a user revealed more information about Ayato’s skill kit:
- His Elemental Skills will infuse his attacks with Hydro damage. It will also increase his range and deal with AoE effects.
- His Elemental Burst will create an Area of Damage. All allies standing within its field will receive an attack speed buff.
Although Genshin Impact hasn’t released any confirmation about his skills, it is confirmed that Ayato is a Hydro character. This means that his skill set will synergize with his sister, Ayaka.
Ayato’s official art also shows him wielding a sword. There are rumors that Ayato might be a polearm user whose skill will transform his weapon into a sword. He will be somehow similar to the Raiden Shogun if this is true.

When it comes to his release date, Kamisato Ayato is expected to arrive with update 2.6, released in April 2022. Genshin Impact is available to play on gaming PC, PS4, PS5, and mobile devices.
