As a sci-fi lover, I became an avid fan of space-themed exploration games. It is through them that I can experience what it’s like to become a part of a space crew and travel through space in hyperdrive mode. If you’re just like me, then here are six of space exploration games that you might want to try:
ASTRONEER
ASTRONEER is an open-world game about aerospace industry and interplanetary exploration. Set in the 25th century, players must explore outer space and risk their lives in the harsh environments to find gold and become rich. The game lets you build vehicles, travel to planets and moons, and explore on procedurally generated planets.
Starbound
Starbound is an exciting extraterrestrial sandbox game where you have to craft items and build shelters to survive. In this game, the player will find himself lost in space with a damaged ship. To survive, he must explore the planet where you landed, and gather the resources you need to repair the ship and continue to discover the vast and infinite universe.
Stellaris
Stellaris will let you explore the full glory of our vast galaxy. Created by the Paradox Development Studio, the game features a deep strategy gameplay about interstellar exploration which allows them to traverse, discover, interact, and learn more about the various alien species across the universe. Create your own galactic empire, colonize planets and even integrate with alien civilizations.
Kerbal Space Program
Kerbal Space Program is an indie game that features a space flight simulation where players direct a space program led by humanoid aliens called “Kerbals.” It features a realistic orbital physics engine, giving players a challenge with its real-life orbital maneuvers. It was first released for gaming PCs via Steam last April 27, 2015.
Obduction
Obduction is an adventure exploration game from Cyan Worlds and was considered as the spiritual successor to Myst and Riven. In this game, the player finds himself stranded on a strange alien world with human elements within its setting. The player must explore his surroundings and solve puzzles to be able to return home.
EVE Online
EVE Online is an MMORPG game from CCP Games with a space-based persistent world. It features several in-game professions and activities such as exploration, combat, mining, trading, and even piracy. As of the moment, the game has 7,800 star systems you can visit and explore to gather resources, trade goods, or sell items. This game is currently free on Steam.
