Ubisoft has released a new trailer for the latest installment in the Assassin’s Creed series: Odyssey. The trailer was called “Power of Choice,” and features the gameplay which emphasizes the ability of the player to choose decisions that can affect the game’s storyline.

The video starts with an overlook of Greece as a ship sails towards the docks, signaling an arrival. The scene then shifts to Kassandra, the female counterpart of the protagonist, as she walks in the streets of Athens. It then turns to a scene where she is riding a horse and meets a two-way path, noting that everyone has a choice to define their own path and choose who they want to be. We then see Kassandra as the visuals changed to Alexio, her male counterpart.

As we all know, Odyssey allows the player to pick either a male or female character. According to the game’s plotline, Alexio/Kassandra is a descendant of King Leonidas of Sparta, who was thrown away because of an oracle’s premonition. Years pass and Alexio/Kassandra return to Greece as a mercenary, who can choose to fight for Athens’ Delian League or for Sparta’s Peloponnesian League. It all depends on the player’s choice.

Going forward with the trailer, the video shows the range of choices a player can make throughout the game. This includes saving others from death, choosing who to love, to hate, who to make peace with and who to wage war against.

The trailer also mentioned the player’s choice to select which class to choose in the game, indicating that they can either “strike from the shadows” as assassins or “attack in the battlefields” as a warrior. Lastly, it ends with Kassandra and Alexio stating that “there are no wrong paths in this world; no wrong decisions; only who you choose to become.”
