At the recent E3 convention, the French-based multinational video game publisher Ubisoft has finally revealed the gameplay trailer for the eleventh installment of the notable Far Cry Series. Far Cry 5 also happens to be the fifth main title in the series and is scheduled to be released on February 28, 2018.

Far Cry 5 introduces you to Hope County, Montana, the land of the free and the brave–and happens to be also the home to a fanatical doomsday cult known as The Project at Eden’s Gate led by a preacher named Joseph Seed. Under his rule, the Eden’s Gate uses both coercion and violence to force the residents of Hope County to join their cult. The player must take a stand to stop Joseph Seed and the Heralds, and lead the resistance to liberate the besieged community.

The player takes on the role of a sheriff’s deputy who is assigned to work in the Hope County to investigate Eden’s Gate, and arrest Seed. Reclaim the town from the grip of the militaristic cult with the help of several allies including Jerome Jeffries, a local pastor; Nick Rye, a bush pilot, and mechanic; and Mary May Fairgrave, a bartender.

The game takes place in an open-world environment where the player can freely explore the area. It also features a new character creator where you can customize your character’s appearance, gender, and skin tone. You will also have a variety of weapons and gadgets you can use to fight against your enemies including shotguns, pistols, bows, grenades, sticky bombs, and rocket launchers.

Far Cry 5 will also come with a new feature that will let you customize vehicles and fully operational planes. The hunting system is also back, allowing players to fish and hunt wild animals that they will encounter while exploring.

According to the game director Dan Hay, the setting and the tone of the game originated from separatism. The story writing first took off in 2014 and was prompted by the idea of people becoming increasingly protective of themselves, losing the trust of the government. To create a memorable story, Hay even researched and investigated the occupation and standoff of a wildlife refuge in Oregon to understand the nature of separatism. He also designed characters that have different views and opinions, and ideologies. Despite the dark theme of the game, Ubisoft ensured that the players would find the game interesting and entertaining to play.

Far Cry 5 uses Dunia Engine 5. It is an action-adventure, first-person shooter video game. It marks the first Far Cry game to be set in the North America and is also the first to feature operational planes within an open world. It is also said to have a drop-in, drop-out co-op multiplayer. It will be released for Microsoft Windows gaming PCs and laptops, XBox One, and PlayStation 4.
