SorryBig%20smile. Didn't realize that the pics had to be on the internet. This was about an hour before I had to go to the airport and leave to Florida. Now I'm back, so I'll post some preliminary pics. Better pics coming within a week, along with some screenshots.

Hey. Sorry about this, quick question.

Is it better to leave my computer on all the time, or only when I need it.
(In terms of, you know, what's healthiest for the computer).

It shouldn't make much of a difference.  If it's made correctly, it's safe to leave it on whenever.  If you want it to last that extra few months to a year, turn it off.  It's better on the hardware to keep it running, it uses a lot of juice to boot up and shut down, but while it's on and idle, it doesn't use much at all.

I agree they look awesome.  I played with mine today and I found out I was just choosing some boring airports.  I picked some with cities nearby and got to see lots of houses and cars.

Okay, sorry about the wait. The airport is KOGD (Ogden, Utah). And the photos were purposefully taken for a project to look good. In all honesty, I am getting great FPS, but the instruments on the panel seem to jerk and not flow, and once you look outside of a 1-mile radius of the airplane, there are no houses, trees etc.
So you could say that these photos look better than what my computer really shows. However, I think that after I install the newest driver software for all my hardware, and all the patches for FSX, I should be getting screenshots as good as those shown while the game installs.

I keep having horrible problems with FSX, even though I got SP1...

The frame rate is horrible, the graphics keep "corrupting", and I just don't know...

Is is the game or did I get a faulty graphics card?

I'm having the same issue with the gtx 295. My frame rate on 3dmark06 is horrible. I'm using a palit gtx 295. It may be because Physx is enabled.

This is bad... I'll have to run 3dmark. You know, all the rating websites show FSX runs at 35 fps on 1920*1200 at full graphics. I've got a 1280*1024 screen, and I'm getting worse performance than that.

BS:P is amazing, though.

I figured out why my fps were low. The nvidia gtx 295 drivers come with a little feature called Energy saver. It's listed as EPU-6 Engine. If you don't have turbo mode enabled, your fps will be super low.

Come again? :D

So how do I enable turbo mode? It won't damage the components, will it? Which menu is it under on the nvidia control panel?

Thanks LoNeWoLf: I've really been wondering why my $600 graphics card is acting like its a $100 piece of junk.

If you have an Asus motherboard, it comes with the Asus driver cd.

But I realized, if I had any energy saver turned on, my fps would drop 40-50 fps, so if you don't have an asus mobo, try to figure out what your energy savings settings are on.

Just don't install any of the software.  I installed Easy Tune 6 and that doesn't downclock anything.

Make sure you go to Control Panel>Power Settings

and change to High Performance.

Almost ready to post new photos.

On the matter of FSX, enabled DX10 and performance is godly.

One question. My disk has a capacity of 1 TB, of which only 758 GB is free. I have barely installed anything. Where is all this extra memory-hogging stuff coming from. I would expect only 30 GB to be used up to now.

Okay, this just keeps getting weirder.
Here are the folders under Local Disc (C:) and their respective size:

Intel                        371 KB
NVIDIA                    237 MB
PerfLogs                  0 bytes
Program Files            505 MB
Program Files (x86)    28.8 GB
Users                       1.89 GB
Windows                  larger than 4.62 GB

plus 3 small 1,1 and 8 KB files, respectively.

So I think the problem is in the Windows folder?
But what is it? And what should I do?

Ok, 3dmark06 scores are in, and they are:

(Looking at the tests myself, I was getting fps 40-150 on the graphics tests, and 0-2 on the cpu tests.)

17,601 3DMarks.

SM 2 Score: 6653
SM 3 Score: 8698
CPU Score: 4973

I was extremely surprised by the low CPU score. This is an i7! Come on! Anyway, are these results what I should be expecting from my configuration?
