Microsoft says it made an accounting error when it laid off some employees last month and now feels the best way to correct the error is with what will likely add up to a public relations blunder.

The software giant, which recently laid off 1,400 employees, sent letters this week to some of those former workers letting them know that their severance payouts were a bit too "generous" and respectfully requested that the former employees pay back that money, according to a report last week on TechCrunch

LOL

I am uber careful when I determine a payout of a pension benefit.  The likelihood of recovering an overpayment is statistically negative.

Perhaps MSoft used some of their own software to calculate the severance amouts.

Haha!  You guys are funny.  BTW Microsoft corrected the situation almost immediately by telling people they were no longer seeking the return of overpayments.

What problems are you having in Excel 07?  I use it constantly and perhaps I can help.

It's more Office 2007 in its entirety.  I don't like the layout of the new tool bars, I can't find anything. But I'm forcing myself to learn.  Who cares if it now takes 5 minutes to figure out how to change the spacing in Word . . .

Oh, ok it's the learning curve and not errors in functionality.  I had the same trouble and so did my boss.  Did you know Excel 07 can sort by color?  I thought that was sweet, very useful IMO.

That is a very interesting feature.  I can't think of many times in the past when I was frustrated because I couldn't sort a worksheet by color . . . but still an interesting feature.
