Hi all, looking at purchasing this laptop: https://www.cyberpowerpc.com/system/Prebuild-Tracer-III-17R-Xtreme-ET9953

3 questions:

1) Does anyone know what laptops cyberpower typically buys and rebrands? Do they buy from ASUS for example and then just rebrand it? Just curious what type of manufacturer I am getting the laptop from.

2) Is there a discount code for laptops? The codes don't appear to work but wanted to double check to make sure I am not missing something.

3) More of a comment than a question, but the pricing for these specs seems almost too cheap. I wonder why? I cannot find any other 17 inch laptops with these specs even in the ballpark of this pricing.

Thank you all!

Can't tell you the brand. They come from China of course.

I have seen a few posts of people trying to find out real specs with no luck (especially the MOBO). Had one person trying to find a MOBO, impossible for a little older system.

No code for laptops.

One of our many was a laptop my Son had. If worked OK, nothing special. Had some keyboard issues after a few years, We ended up going with a major brand for the specs on his next one.

Hello gladirl,

CyberPowerPC is one of many online PC/Laptop clone manufacturers. They are based in California (which is important). They buy components from third party manufacturers, in the same manner than Apple, Sony and all the others do. You can find their different system configurations on their web site. You can also find articles from computer magazine web sites that analyze their new laptops coming into the market, they are known.

Additionally, it generally offers more flexibility in upgrading options than the major brands who typically sell you a more closed system. I am writing you from my 2nd laptop purchased from CyberpowerPC, a TRACER III XTREME 17 VR 300 with a few upgrades here and there. Their systems are solid, stable (in my experience), and really top of the line when it comes to the price vs performance ratio

I have never had any problems with their products, so I can't really tell how good their customer service is. The couple times I interacted with them for minor software issues, they were there for me. Then again, if I am worried about how good customer service is, maybe that is an indication that I should buy a better product instead of a crappy one. I have never bought into the "I rather pay 3 times as much for Apple customer service" hype, I don't have that kind of faith when it comes to customer service, I guess.

If what you are asking is that when you open the laptop you will find surprises in terms of components not being the ones you chose or the ones they claimed that were inside your machine, I can assure you that they are 100% legit.

Cheers!

EDIT: More specifically, Tracer 3 models are based on the ODM (Original Design Manufacturer)  TONGFANG (Chinese company) - barebones model GK5CN6Z - with MECHREVO (Chinese company) as system integrator. Basically, it looks like they are re-branding a slightly modified version of one of the Deep Sea Titan models from MECHREVO.
