Totally killer system. No wonder these sold out so fast. My buddies were bummed that I squeaked in and got one.

Getting a 17 inch laptop with high end parts today is a difficult thing to do because of one main problem and that is heat. Really heat effects all laptops in some way but for bigger 17 inch laptops you would expect they might cool a tad better but to the degree that they do is very minimal as usually they haveone more small heat pipe compared to their 15 inch counterparts. I guess that leads into the main downside to this review. Out of the box a game that used around 30-40% (GPU at around 90%) of the cpu was causing it to just about thermal throttle (~95c). It wasn't until i undervolted the cpu AND gpu (thank you msi afterburner) that I got temps down to a more reasonable level. Not only did I get temps down but I was able to get more consistent and higher clocks on the cpu and gpu respectively. The fans do get loud but they aren't annoying, even at 100%. One thing I would add too is the feet of the laptop, while kinda large already, they don't do he best job of letting the computer breathe. I've found putting something in the middle of the back of it to raise it up a bit more helps with thermals even more. I will also be getting a laptop cooling pad sometime in the future for this. It doesn't "need" one but it will help it and any amount of heat that you can get away from the laptop the longer it will last. I guess the keyboard would be my next point of contention as it is fine to type on (and i'm typing this review on it). Sometimes if I'm not paying full attention while typing it can lead to a lot of clicks that don't get registered as the keys not only have to be pressed they have to be pressed hard. Not super hard hulk like pressed but more so than the other gaming laptops with membrane keyboards I've used. I would not say that the mechanical-ness of this keyboard is a selling point or feature, more of a difference. The RGB is fine but the program that controls it is fairly undesirable, not a lot of options or settings and it also controls the computers power state (which should be more customizable). Ohh yes and i/o, only 3 USB-A ports? I mean come on now it needs to have at least 1 more if not 2 (one more on the left and maybe one on the back). Gaming should mean lots of i/o. Now I'm not really sure why (might have something to do with the switching power states or some such) but the laptop tends to restart when it is unplugged from the AC power connector. Not a big deal as I can put all my undervolts back when on the battery. It is something that might be unique to my set up but it still happens. Everything else about the laptop is fairly normal. 144hz screen is really nice with it having thin side and top bezels. There isn't any real bloatware on the laptop other than the RGB control program so it is a fairly clean windows 10. The weight is very light and the laptop easy to move around with a single hand. If this has seemed a bit down on the laptop it is anything but. The overall feel of it is nice and I wouldn't think twice about buying it again. I however would caution others and say that if you don't like tinkering with things to get the voltages down and kind of optimizing the laptop then you'll either need a cooling pad or you'll get lower performance than you otherwise should out of the box.

I needed a decent laptop for school and while this is overkill for that purpose, I wanted something future proof. I always wanted to have something portable for my VR Oculus Rift S. This works great with that. It's nice and light, and it's pretty to look at. There is a recent YouTube video (search "tracer III") showing this same system (except the YouTube one has a RTX 2060 instead of this one's 2070) so you can get a good idea of what you will be getting. Although I've only had it a week, I am very satisfied. There is no bloatware to worry about removing which is a big plus. This is my fourth purchase from Cyberpower (2 laptops and 2 desktops) and I have been very happy with all my purchases. I did a lot of research before I bought this laptop and will advise you that you won't find a better price anywhere. Make sure you use the %5 discount code at checkout. Although this was the "ready to ship" version that didn't come with any extra goodies, it ended up being cheaper than the non-ready to ship with some customized features. I ordered it on a Sunday and received it on Wednesday afternoon (from their California warehouse to my home in Florida) and shipping was free. I'm a happy customer and will be ordering my next system from Cyberpower (although the desktop I just purchases from them should last me another 5 years before I replace it). Two Thumbs Up!
