The Oculus Rift VR system runs by connecting its headgear to a high-performance PC which needs to meet the minimum specifications required by the Rift developers. Laptop users shouldn\u2019t get all depressed because a beefy rig doesn\u2019t necessarily mean you need a glorious high-performance gaming PC to run the VR system. \n\u25cf Intel i5-4590 equivalent or greater
\n\u25cf 8GB+ RAM
\n\u25cf Compatible HDMI 1.3 video output
\n\u25cf 2x USB 3.0 ports
\n\u25cf Windows 7 SP1 or newer<\/p>\n

If you assessed these requirements, the latest laptops in the market can easily meet or pass these requirements by having an 8GB+ RAM and a Windows 7 or higher operating system. When it comes to its graphics card, there are several gaming laptops in the market with NVIDIA GTX 970M, the mobile version of the GTX 970. Your laptop should have at least two USB 3.0 ports and a DVI-D or HDMI graphics output.<\/p>\n

Perhaps, the only requirement that a laptop can\u2019t meet is the VR\u2019s required processor. You see, Intel i5-4590 is specifically made for PCs. However, according to RiftInfo.com, you can get a mobile version of Intel i5-4590 currently at a high price.<\/p>\n

To tell the truth, laptops are not the best system to run the Rift especially if you want to get the most out of your VR gear. However, the Oculus Rift CV1 to be release next year may actually have the capability to run smoothly on a portable laptop.
