I’ll be providing a list I’ve been using for a few weeks now. I’ve gotten #2 Legend solely with this list and have gotten legend this season with it.

The list :

(I did not make this list, someone who got #1 Legend did named Xolpher)

Summary:

Kind of like the old miracle rogues you used to see but with some minions thrown in. The kill potential may be a tad lacking but the win condition is just strong board control. This deck is very good against aggro and i suggest it for climbing (although it is a tad lacking against the facerush hunter).

Matchups and Mulligans:

Hunter: I would say this matchup isn’t too difficult. The most important thing is to look for something to deal with an Undertaker, because if that Undertaker grows it’s very very hard to deal with. Other than that once you get board you should be able to maintain it for a bit. You are favored against hunters that do not use wolf riders, you are not against the ones that are all herpy derpy.(although it’s still not a terrible matchup).

Hunter Mulligan: Look for Prep / Backstab / SI:7 Agent (you can keep fan if you have prep, keep farseer if you have backstab and SI)

Hunter rant: What this matchup mostly comes down to is killing the undertaker so mulliganing super aggressive for backstab is very important. I like to keep preps against almost every aggro deck because if things get out of hand you can usually just use it for tempo and get something out (think they play webspinner leper gnome – prep fan clears +you save 3 mana so you can combo si or pretty much anything). Don’t proc traps if they have a weapon and you are not pushing damage either, you are just feeding them more damage and you only have a limited amount of life (if you have a unit on board and they have bow+trap up, usually is incorrect to attack, best to develop another unit). Not much to say about this matchup, treat it like they are an aggro deck and just try to get board early.

Paladin: You are exceptionally good against Paladin, You can out value them and clear their units with a lot of ease (think fan for muster, shiv backstab for mini bot). But you can still lose to tirion and dr boom. Most of this matchup comes down to getting board around turn 4-5 and keeping it so they can’t develop tirion.

Paladin Mulligan: Fan / Backstab/ SI:7 Agent / Violet Teacher / Farseer (just make sure you can do stuff that will affect the board 2-4, develop Teacher on 4 or try to get board on 3 with SI/Farseer)

Paladin rant: Most games will look like this,
Turn 1 – nothing, yours – nothing,
Turn 2 – Minibot, yours – ping Minibot with dagger
Turn 3 – Muster, yours – Fan of Knives finish off Minibot
Turn 4 – concede, yours – idk some funny line or salt reference

The only thing difficult about this matchup is the swing turn where you get board, generally I like to keep Teacher and maybe a Preparation so i can have that swing turn set up for me. Some Paladins have been running Equality so committing the perfect amount to board is important (3 units isn’t even over committing because you should always have something to play). I would also try to keep Coin unless you can get amazing SI value on turn 2 to 3 (he plays Juggler, you play SI and kill him). Also note, you should never run out of cards with this deck. There is just too much cycle to be concerned with it.

Warlock: You are highly favored against Zoo with all your massive AoE and things like that, Against warlock it is always correct to mulligan for Zoo (unless you know otherwise)

Warlock Mulligan: Backstab / SI:7 Agent / Prep / Fan (only if prep) / Thalnos (if Fan or Prep)/ Flurry. Farseer is okay to keep if you have other backstab or coin into SI

Warlock rant: This deck is really really good against zoo, the only way I ever lose to zoo is if they get two Doomguards and I don’t have board for some reason. The mulligans should be pretty straight forward, just all the anti-aggro stuff. The reason this is one of the easier matchups is because Spell Power plus Fan/Shiv does so much work. Even setting up a turn 5 Fan+Spell Power can do so much against a board of Knife Jugglers, Flame Imps, Undertaker and Haunted Creepers. It is obviously beneficial to get coin against Zoo, because Backstab SI becomes that much better. The Handlock matchup is a tad different. Usually against Handlock you can deal with 1-2 threats of theirs and just begin to lose if they have anymore. There are a few important things to note with this matchup though… Because you run Geomancer and Thalnos you can get 3 damage Fans and 4 damage Backstabs, dealing with giants later in the game isn’t the worst thing in the world. Warlocks lack a decent amount of burst now so you can get to ~ 10 hp and feel really safe, trading a bit of HP early to finish off a Giant or Drake is usually fine. Preps should be used for big swing turns or to draw with Sprint. Don’t be afraid to leave a drake up, it’s only 4 power and you can just hide behind a Belcher (think he plays drake on 4, you drop belcher on 5). I’m not going to go through every combination of spell power and things like that, just be cautious of Moltens and try to clear as often as possible – remember you do NOT have that much burst in this deck so saving Eviscerates while you can could be the difference between killing him or him bustin out 2 8/8’s on your face. (generally i build up board and go for the kill)

Warrior: This is the matchup I hate the most, This is one of the reasons this deck does not show up in tournaments. Weapons just destroy all of your units and you only have a few threats

Warrior Mulligan: Keep poison / Teacher / Backstab SI:7 Agent (only if both to deal with armorsmith).

Warrior rant: Generally the first few turns of the matchup are just going to be daggering up and cycling your Shivs and Fans into more useful things. The reason I keep poison is to deal with turn 3 Acolyte, I really dislike when warrior draws with Acolyte. I would say it’s a lot more important to deal with a turn 3 acolyte when they go first (they have 1 less card when they go first) because SOMETIMES you can go for the value game. If you go first it’s mostly just about tempo. So lets go through a scenario which I think is pretty important and I’ve found to help me a ton in this matchup – Turn 3 – You have the option to play a Farseer on a naked board or cycle the Fan, you have a Violet Teacher in hand… what do you do!?!?!?. Play the fan! If he kills that farseer with a Death’s Bite, your violet teacher is toast! You need to squeeze every bit of value from your units and make the Warriors turns awkward. You need to be the one that pumps out threats before him so he just looks like an idiot using his hero power every turn while the board is growing on your side (try to be the first to play a threat if at all possible(like boom)). I’ve run out of damage against warriors before, usually it all comes down to a brawl for me. Not much else to say about this matchup, I hate it. It’s still winnable, but I hate it.

Priest: This matchup is favored, just make sure they don’t get infinite value by trading/healing their units

Priest Mulligan: Backstab / SI:7 Agent / Violet Teacher / Farseer (if something to deal with Cultist is in your hand).

Priest rant: Priest don’t have much burst, so if they build up a board you can usually just get a bunch of spell power and Fan/Backstab/SI it down. That being said it’s generally safer to just clear the board whenever possible. Priest usually don’t do anything until turn 3 – which is Dark Cultist, If you can Backstab / SI this you are in good shape, if not try to deal with it another way (Shiv Eviscerate). I really can’t say anything too helpful about this matchup, just anticipate Belcher on 5 and a way to deal with it. It’s a pretty standard matchup and you should just be focused on controlling board (Prep should either be used for swing turn or Sprint)

Mage: I usually only see super aggro mage on ladder, so you need to mulligan accordingly

Mage Mulligan: Backstab/ SI:7 Agent / Preparation / Farseer/ Deadly Poison

Mage rant: Try not to get too weak, they can kill you with Fireballs with no board. Against Aggro matchups don’t be afraid to just use Prep to get a little bit ahead. I keep Deadly against Mage because it can kill Mech Warper fairly easily(and helps kill Shredder sometimes but you don’t want to be face tanking those too much). Making your swing turn on 4 helps a lot if you can manage to get Violet Teacher + Prep + Eviscerate/Fan/some other spell because you get tokens and those help control the board.

Shaman: Keep the board as clear as possible, try to save Flurry for Spirit Wolves. Always clear the board whenever possible.

Shaman Mulligan: Backstab / SI:7 Agent / Fan /one Deadly Poison / Violet Teacher

Druid: One of my favorite matchups because if you anticipate their turns you can deal with all of their units very very easily. You are favored if they are not running Spectral Knights or have a crazy start with double Innervate or Wild Growth. *note if they run shade the matchup gets harder

Druid Mulligan: Backstab / SI / Farseer / Violet teacher / deadly (if backstab)

Druid Rant: It’s hard to describe everything I mean by anticipating what they will play in such a short paragraph. Basically the druid usually has an order to their line up play, and if you set everything up you can deal with their units. The Druid line of play varies with what type of deck they are running but can still be anticipated

Mana crystal 2- Wild Growth or Innervate Yeti or Hero Power
Mana crystal 3 – Innervate Druid of Claw or Shade (can’t play around shade, i would anticipate Innervate Druid of the Claw if they didn’t Innervate/WG a Yeti)
Mana crystal 4 – Yeti/Teacher/Sen’Jin (all have 5 hp*)
mana crystal 5 – Druid of Claw/Loatheb/Innervate Ancient of Lore
Mana crystal 6 – Druid of Claw/Sylvanas/Cairne(who plays that anymore)
Mana crystal 7 – Lore/Dr. Boom

So if you anticipate the plays you can save your cards and plan around dealing with these threats. It’s hard to explain, and I’ll have to go through it some other time. Just try not to take too much damage in this matchup, Belchers are really hard for druids to deal with so if you get in combo range just drop one of those. Druids have an issue with clearing the board and expanding so getting board as quickly as possible against Druids is important.

*Shiv Eviscerate kills 5 HP creatures
*Backstab / SI / Dagger hit does as well

Card Replacements

Farseer – You can probably cut 1 to add in another BGH or Healbot if needed (don’t think Healbot will help you anymore against some matchups though, a 3 drop is important)

Geomancer – MVP for dealing with Zoo/other aggro decks (helps against Handlock aswell) can be replaced for another BGH/Sabotage or another threat

Sprint – 2 may be overkill, I just think 2 is necessary for consistency (if sprint is the last card in your deck it kind of sucks so 2 is more consistent)

** I did not make this deck, all credit to Xolpher

*****Don’t be afraid to use preps just to get a bit of board against aggro matchups.

Follow David on Twitter @coL_HsDog
Watch the live stream at http://www.twitch.tv/hsdogdog

[2258
561,2434,2312,2435
post-4380","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-industry-interest","tag-complexity-gaming","tag-dog","tag-hearthstone","tag-xolphor
["GET
