{"id":3633,"date":"2014-08-07T12:14:02","date_gmt":"2014-08-07T19:14:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.cpgaming.gg\/?p=3633"},"modified":"2023-12-01T11:52:49","modified_gmt":"2023-12-01T19:52:49","slug":"killzone-shadow-fall-gets-sony-sued","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.cyberpowergaming.com\/killzone-shadow-fall-gets-sony-sued\/","title":{"rendered":"Killzone: Shadow Fall Gets Sony Sued"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>California reesident Douglas Ladore is suing Sony for alleged false advertising on their PS4 game, <em>Killzone: Shadow Fall<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Ladore\u2019s case is based around the fact that Killzone: Shadow Fall was stated to be able to run on a scaled 1920&#215;1080 resolution, or a 1080p resolution, when in fact the multiplayer function of the game only runs on a 960&#215;1080 resolution.<\/p>\n<p>In light of this discovery, Killzone&#8217;s developer, Guerilla Games, sent representative\u00a0Poria Torkan to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.killzone.com\/en_GB\/blog\/news\/2014-03-06_regarding-killzone-shadow-fall-and-1080p.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reach out on their website<\/a>, explaining the game\u2019s visual technical solution.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;In both [single-player] and [multiplayer], <em>Killzone: Shadow Fall<\/em> outputs a full, unscaled 1080p image at up to 60 [frames per second],&#8221; Torkan wrote. &#8220;Native is often used to indicate images that are not scaled; it is native by that definition. In Multiplayer mode, however, we use a technique called &#8216;temporal reprojection,&#8217; which combines pixels and motion vectors from multiple lower-resolution frames to reconstruct a full 1080p image. If native means that every part of the pipeline is 1080p then this technique is not native.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Torkan further explains that temporal reprojection is at fault for the slightly blury images.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Temporal reprojection is a technique that tracks the position of pixels over time and predicts where they will be in future. These &#8216;history pixels&#8217; are combined with freshly rendered pixels to form a higher-resolution new frame.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The lawsuit persists that temporal reprojection is indeed not the native 1080p Sony has promised and has a payout of over 5 million dollars.
