This is my rig; just one question thats been gnawing at me; should I have gone with an SLI config (2 GTX 295) or did I do right by going solo and waiting for the next Nvidia Next gen? (DX11)

thanks!

PHYSX does not buy significant performance advantage and is an additional power drain - better to fo SLI.

Anti vibration mounts break easily in transport and they do not add much either.

Sound absorbing foam does not do much to reduce noise but it does restrict airlow in your case.

Why 2 blu ray players?

Pro wiring will not buy anything extra - especially with the obsidian case.

Good luck

This is my second time ordering from Cyberpower (got one in March this year thats going to my younger bro)
I honestly didnt know the foam restricted the air flow...dammit I should have asked here before I put in the order! same with the pro wiring, next time I will ask and save some money and potential grief.
As for why 2 Blue rays, well I'd like to burn BR movies in the future (disc to disc) thats the plan anyways, this rig will mainly be used for gaming and on a lesser note family business stuff.

I am also planning to get the next NVidia gen cards as soon as they come out and replace the GTX 295, thats why I went with PHYSX card instead of additional video card.

I apreciate your advice, should have asked here before...
thanks!

Hi Cyanstorm

Great build.  It will be a powerhouse plus.  It is not to late to take the advice abovve since your order probably has not been built yet.

I agree with lawyeretal.  Heat kills and a unit like your will generate a lot.  Loose the foam asap.  The most precious territory on a motherboard are the pcie slots.  I would lose the PhysX card or Sound Blaster or both.  It would take nothing to add a PhysX card later if needed or a sound card if needed (motherboard sound is pretty  good.)  I have a sound card in my old rig and am using motherboard in my new and can't hear any difference.

I am not sure how the temp display / fan control / gizmo is attached but with the 12 in 1 card reader,  I would check to see if you are eating all of your USB headers.     The fan control looks cool but is worthless.  The readings are usually not to accurate and the temps are better monitored and fans controlled through software.  I have never used my 12 in 1 (go directly through usb port), but you may have a need.

Your specs were made to run like the wind.  The Gigabyte motherboard that you have is a great product, but why did you not go with the EVGA Classified?  A 20% OC (to around 4Ghz) on a 975 is actuall pretty pussy considering the unlocked multiplier and liquid cooling and when the warrranty runs out (wink) you may want to see how far you can really push it.

The 295 is a great card and will serve for a long while.  Like you I am waiting to see what the Fermi is and what it can do.  I am going to wait for a while after Nvidia indroduces it (if ever) and see how it shakes out.  I want to see how it stacks up against the really fine 5870s CF and the 5970.   I also plan to wait until the inevitable supply problems work out and ATI gets theirs under control to see where the prices stabilize.

Thats about it.   You seem to have the money so I won't comment on the UPS, keyboard, or mouse (go to newegg for better pricing and more selection) or stuff like the gasket or fan mounts.

Luck on your build.
Alan
