![]() Topic: Games cause system shutdown after Win 7 upgradePosted: 17 Nov 2009 at 1:28pm |

I bought my laptop from cyberpower a couple years ago and now I'm having a strange problem after upgrading from Vista to Windows 7. Certain games that previously had no problems running are now causing a complete shutdown with no BSOD. The games in question are Dragon Age Origins and The sims 3. Other games seem to run perfectly fine but for some unknown reason those two cause a complete shutdown after about five minutes of playing. I've checked event viewer and nothing is reported after the shutdowns. Any ideas what is going on here?

I have a friend that is running Dragon Age on a cyberpower pc with windows 7 (was windows vista). Doesn't seem to be having any notable problems with it.
Might check your hardware drivers and update them. Often times, a complete and sudden shutdown (like you unplugged it from the wall) can mean something is overheating. Download RealTemp and keep an eye on your temps if you are not already. I'd recommend doing the above two things, as well as seeing if there are any newer patches for the games in question. |

I've updated all of my drivers...checked the heat (which is somewhat normal) and did a cpu stress test with no shut offs.
The games are up to date. |
