Haha, don't feel noob, you know way more about computers than I do, that's for sure.
Google Chrome Mozilla Firefox I know very little about Chrome, but I heard good things about it. What did you use before Chrome Altranox? Maybe I should try Chrome out. |

hmmmm..... not sure if that is true. i have learned SOOO much in that last few months about PCs, it is ridiculous. I just have some engineering, mechanical and electrical skills that I can apply in many situations, and some confidence to do so.
I like to think I am multi-talented yet non-proficient....

tweak your firefox..and it will be faster then chrome
go to your address bar and type: about:config [enter] then a bunch of setting will come out. go to the filter text.and type pipe [enter] 4 setting will shown up. then double click the first setting change to TRUE then click on the 2nd one change the value to 30 then skip the 3rd setting leave it at : FALSE then click on the last one change value to TRUE then move your mouse to blank space in the firefox right click> New> Integer then type: nglayout.initialpaint.delay value: 0 then close your firefox and open up again..see if your internet pages load alot faster. I used Firefox before Chrome
Both are nice, but Chrome is a bit faster and has more screen space. I also like the integrated search in the address bar. |

my i7-920 scored very wll, but wasn't even close to a Gulftown..the fastest test ever on there. My rig was about mid-ranges for the -920, compared to those triple-fired 5850's and 2x 5890...
SSD also seems to make a big difference in the synthetic tests.
I want to hit 24000 without burning out my mobo...although I think I am almost perfectly clocked and stable now. How to get 500 more points? Strip out services and more tasks I guess...

Scored just over 20k (20383) with current setup. But I had a few programs running at the same time, don't really care to benchmark lol

Well I tried it at default with no AA at 1280x1024, and then 4X AA at 1920x1200. Much better visual quality but look at the FPS difference -
Default 1280x1024 No AA
23826 3DMark Score
9700 SM2
10823 SM3
6872 CPU
Now at 1920x1200 with 4x AA
16405 3DMark Score
7026 SM2
5987 SM3
6891 CPU
That's a huge difference...even for a 5850 AA is a killer lol. |
