I still don't get why they are releasing these. People need to know that there are limits to the human eye. You won't notice a difference with these colossal resolutions unless you have a freakin electron microscope! |

For me personally its about smoothness. Sure my eyes can't differentiate between 394053849 pixels and 29350823592582890 pixels, but the general sharpness and smoothness of the image is more appreciated by my eyes, especially on a 60 inch screen. Not to mention men are naturally born with the desire to have better numbers than everyone else. Benchmarks anyone? Lol.

Why? Try that fact that one of these stomps both my 8800's and uses a lot less power. Why would I not want to upgrade? Then if I ever need more in a year I can buy another for half the cost. In the meantime I'll have an extra PCIe slot for a PCIe Drive. |

Now. Now seeing the GTX 690 4GB card listed as an option, at least on the Z77/X79 builds I've looked at. Don't look at the price, just click.... From Nvidia's website: Availability The NVIDIA GeForce GTX 690 GPU will be available in limited quantities starting May 3, 2012, with wider availability by May 7, 2012 from NVIDIA's add-in card partners, including ASUS, EVGA, Gainward, Galaxy, Gigabyte, Inno3D, MSI, Palit and Zotac. Expected pricing is $999. Edited by Wrathchilde - 03 May 2012 at 6:52am |

I hadn't even looked at what the companies are charging for the 690's yet. I'd imagine it's going to cost you relatively the same amount wherever you look for one. Ultimately, it comes down to: Don't buy it, or find it cheaper elsewhere. |

The price is supposed to be like $999. Due to limited quantities CP is charging $1700, which is simply ridiculous. All it is is 2 680s with like 3% better performance. Ew.

Releasing the 690 is absurd. The only thing it accomplishes is to cut down the number of GPUs available for the 680, and they're in short supply already. Then again, only idiots or Bill Gates's son are going to lay out $1000 for a video card... |

That's exactly what's happened, too. Since the 690 is 2 680's, production of both are bottlenecked by each other. No real solution to the shortage of cards except ramping up production. |
